". . . Go and make disciples of all the nations . . ." Matthew 28:19
Since its beginnings, Central Bible Church has a long history of involvement in world missions in response to the LORD's command. In the early years our fellowship sent out a number of our own young people to the mission field. First among them were Ellie Munter to Liberia, then Jim Wright to India and Anna Lou Oursland to Nigeria.
Prayer Support
On a regular basis, a number of women meet together to support our missionaries in prayer. Maranatha and the Missions and Outreach are two of the women's prayer groups who work to gather prayer requests from our missionaries and then gather together to bring those needs before the throne of grace. You can learn more about these groups here.
The Missions Committee works to keep these needs before the larger church body as well. Their efforts are highlighted by a Missions Conference every 18 months where we bring in speakers to speak on missions, give reports of our missionaries' efforts locally and globally, and provide opportunities for fellowship with visiting missionaries.
Sending Support
Over the years, at least a dozen of our own young people have answered the call to serve full time in local and world missions. You can learn about a few of them on the Our Missionaries page. Many others have served in short-term projects in Africa, Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Pacific.
Financial Support
It is our goal to have each person in our congregation be involved in world missions. Those who designate “MISSIONS” in their giving have a part in the work of over 25 different missionaries at present. Our giving for these missionaries amounts to about 25% of the annual church budget. In addition, people here give to support numerous short-term missionaries, mission teams and projects each year.
